Around 20 new Tornado-G multiple rocket launcher systems were delivered to the motor rifle unit of Russia’s Eastern Military District to replace the Grad launchers, the district reports in a statement.
"The new Tornado-G 122-mm multiple rocket launcher surpasses 2.5-3 times the Grad system in combat effectiveness. The Tornado-G system outperforms the predecessors due to its payload effectiveness, automatic guidance and sighting systems," the statement says.
It was also reported that the first target practice will be held in the first quarter this year.
The Grad is a 122-mm multiple rocket launcher system. It was developed in the early 1960s and is designed for attacking troops, unarmored and armored vehicles, artillery and mortar batteries, battle headquarters and other targets.
