KIEV (Sputnik) — Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday, Poroshenko’s press office said Wednesday.
“On Thursday, February 5, at 1 p.m. [11 a.m. GMT] president Petro Poroshenko will hold a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry,” the statement said.
The statement does not reveal what issues will be on the agenda.
In the wake of a recent escalation of tensions between Kiev forces and independence supporters in eastern Ukraine, the United States provides Kiev with all sorts of assistance, such as financial and non-lethal aid.
Earlier this week, western media, citing sources in the US government, said that Washington was considering supplying lethal aid to Kiev, including Javelin anti-tank missiles, arms and ammunition.
