Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez took to Twitter making an offensive remark about Chinese accents after she met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez took to Twitter making an offensive remark about Chinese accents after she met with Chinese President Xi Jinping to sign agreements between the two countries, reports Bloomberg.

The tweet which was in Spanish immediately became a trending topic.

“Did they only come for lice and petloleum?” Fernandez wrote in Spanish on her Twitter account in reference to 1,000 businessmen who attended a conference where she spoke. She used the letter "l" instead of "r' so it sounded like "lice" and "petloleum" instead of "rice" and "petroleum."

The tweet immediately was slammed on Twitter and retweeted more than 1,000 times in less than an hour.

She then tweeted saying, "You know what? It's just that it's so much the excess of ridiculousness and absurdity that it can only be digested with humor. If not, they are very toxic."

The latest comes as the President has faced scrutiny surrounding the mysterious death of prosecutor Alberto Nisman who was investigating the government's involvement in the decades-old terrorist bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires.
