French authorities are investigating whether a female fighter, spotted in the latest Islamic State video, is Hayat Boumeddiene, an accomplice of the Islamist gunmen who carried out several deadly attacks in the Paris area in early January.

French authorities are investigating whether a female fighter, who appears in the latest video released by French-speaking Islamic State militants, is Hayat Boumeddiene, girlfriend of Amedy Coulibaly, who took several people hostage at a Jewish supermarket in Paris and killed a policewoman in early January, CNN reports, citing an anonymous source close to the investigation.

Terrorist Recorded Attack at Paris Kosher Food Store on January 9
Boumeddiene’s exact role in the Paris attacks remains unknown. She was not at the kosher store during the hostage crisis but is believed to know crucial details about it, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added. However, French police believe that she could have been with Coulibaly, when he killed a policewoman. She then reportedly fled to Syria.

In the video, titled "Blow Up France 2", the Islamic State militants call for more terrorist attacks on the French soil.

"If you fight for democracy, we will fight for Islam," they say to officials, as quoted by CNN. "You will have to accept that we will react fully to the numerous crimes you committed. You took our rights. Therefore you can't expect to be in peace," the fighters warn.

Four Men to Face Charges Linked to Terrorist Attack in Paris
Coulibaly, believed to be affiliated with the radical Sunni group, took several people hostage at a kosher store, Hyper Cacher, near Porte de Vincennes in Paris on January 9. Four of them died before officers stormed the store. Coulibaly was killed during the operation.

The hostage taker claimed that he coordinated the attacks with Said and Cherif Kouachi, who carried out an attack on the Charlie Hebdo editorial office on January 7, leaving 12 people dead. Boumeddiene exchanged more than 500 phone calls with the wife of Cherif Kouachi.
