"In 2015, industrial plants will deliver two large surveying boats of the 19920 project to hydrographic centers of the Baltic Fleet and the Pacific Fleet of the Russian navy. Each of the boats has a displacement of 320 tons, and an operation range of 1,500 miles," the statement cites Sergei Travin, head of the Navigation Command of the Russian navy.
According to him, the boats will be equipped with cutting-edge navigation and hydrographic systems capable of a high-precision underwater cover photography. The equipment will also allow handling navigation systems, transporting personnel, food supplies and lighthouse fuel to unimproved shores.
He added that in 2015, a repair program is planned for a total of 117 surveying boats which will contribute to the further exploration of Russia’s territorial waters and other water areas of the global oceans.
