MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The representative of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) at the Minsk reconciliation talks Vladislav Deinego expressed hope Saturday that after the talks in the Normandy format the Minsk peace talks will be resumed.
“I count on resumption of the Minsk process, which will follow the Normandy format [talks],” Deinego told RIA Novosti, commenting on the results of the Moscow meeting of German, French and Russian leaders which concluded on Saturday.
The meeting of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin started Friday and lasted for more than five hours. Following the meeting, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the talks were substantive and constructive. The negotiators are said to continue work on a text of a possible agreement which might be revealed during a telephone conversation in the Normandy format scheduled for Sunday.
Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany are part of the Normandy format talks on Ukrainian reconciliation. The latest ministerial-level meeting in the Normandy format held in January in Berlin failed to yield any positive results.
