Chairman of Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger said that Munich conference offers a platform for more intense and more balanced discussions about international crisis situations.

MUNICH, (Sputnik) — During the closing speech at the 51st Munich Security Conference (MSC), the MSC Chairman stressed that the venue provides platform for discussions on the most urgent and troubling global security issues.

"I think the added value of this [the conference] is when there are crisis situations, when there are conflicts that remain difficult to be addressed, this conference can… provide a contribution, offer a platform for more intense and more balanced discussions than in other places," Wolfgang Ischinger said Sunday.

He underlined that if Europe and the world were in perfect peace, "we might as well just have dinner and enjoy life."

The 51st security conference focused mainly on the situation on Ukraine, global terrorist threat, and instability in the Middle East, including rise of the Islamic State militant group.
