Casablanca's historic Hotel Lincoln collapsed on Monday, killing a 34-year-old man and injuring two others.
The hotel, built in 1917 by French architect Hubert Bride, was abandoned around 20 years ago, and became decrepit despite being listed as a historic landmark.
Although there were plans by preservationists to save the hotel, a landmark of art-deco architecture, the local government did not see the issue as a priority. The hotel is one of many historic buildings in Casablanca which face a similar fate
