Despite his age, Zeldin continues to work at the Russian Army Theatre in Moscow, where he has been serving as an actor for the past sixty years.
He is still very active and energetic, and says that he has a simple explanation for why he is in high spirits and perfect physical condition.
"I try not to be mean or to besmear anybody. As the poet Joseph Brodsky put it perfectly: 'One should understand that there are people better than you, and it makes life lighter.' I live with a clear conscience,"Zeldin said.
He also mentioned a spate of other major factor that may have helped contribute to his longevity.
"We survived the war and defended Russia. One should be able to be surprised by life, be interested in everything new, and never envy anybody. And one more thing. One should keep up the state of being in love – with one's profession, with people around you, with life in all its manifestations," Zeldin said.
He rose to national fame in 1941, when he starred in the comedy Female Pig-Tender and Shepherd.
In February 2005, Zeldin celebrated his 90th birthday at the premiere of the musical Man of La Mancha, where he still stars both as Don Quixote and Miguel de Cervantes.
Later on Tuesday, he will mark his centenary jubilee by appearing in a gala show '100 or Dances with Time' at the Russian Army Theater.
