WASHINGTON, February 10 (Sputnik) – US and Coalition Joint Task Force aircraft conducted 12 airstrikes against the Islamic State (ISIL) in Syria and Iraq on Monday, according to a United States Central Command (CENTCOM) statement.
“US and Coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL [Islamic State of Syria and the Levant] terrorists in Syria, using attack aircraft to conduct an airstrike,” the statement said. “Separately, US and Coalition military forces conducted 11 airstrikes in Iraq, using fighter, attack, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL terrorists.”
An airstrike destroyed an ISIL armoured vehicle in Syria near Dayr az Zawr, the statement said.
In Iraq, the airstrikes destroyed an ISIL weapons storage facility, four tactical units, four vehicles, a building near Kirkuk, a checkpoint near Tal Afar, and three fighting positions.
On Monday, Iraq’s Kurdish security forces assisted the coalition joint task force airstrikes and advice-and-assist teams, pushed the ISIL to the edge of areas it held north of Mosul, according to the Pentagon.
