Mississippi Couple Turns to FBI After Cop Pointed Gun at Their Autistic Son

In an attempt to arrest a man with an outstanding warrant, a cop pointed a gun at an autistic 6-year-old. Now his parents say they’re seeking help from the US Attorney General’s office and the FBI.

Paul and Angela Roby said Ridgeland Police officers arrived in an unmarked car with a warrant for Angela’s brother, Carneigo Gray, reported WBRC-TV.

“My son was telling the police officers to stop, to not do that, please don’t hurt his uncle,” Angela told the local Fox affiliate. “That’s when the guns were drawn on him and my mother was telling them, ‘Hey please don’t point your gun at my grandbaby. Please don’t do that.’”

Ridgeland Police Department spokesman Lt. John Neal told the Clarion-Ledger that Gray, who has an outstanding warrant for contempt of court after failing to appear on drug paraphernalia charges, was staying at the house.

Lt. Neal said Gray resisted arrest, and the officers called for backup.

"Officers called for additional units to head that way," Neal said. "There was potential for the situation to be violent, from the radio traffic."

Neal added that the couple, who says they need the feds to intervene, has not filed a complaint with his department.

“We’ve got policies and procedures for citizens to file complaints, and there are channels that are in place for citizens to lodge complaints with us to where they can be investigated,” Neal told the Clarion-Ledger. “If this family feels they’ve been wronged, our doors are open. We’d be happy to talk to them.”
