A massive power blackout hit most of the Gulf state of Kuwait on Wednesday, causing chaos for traffic and at a number of vital facilities.

Lights went off in buildings, a number of hospitals, along the roads and at Kuwait Airport, according to pictures posted on Twitter.
According to one tweet it was seen that doctors did not stop their work despite the total darkness. The tweet read, "The dedication of our doctors even during the blackout. Proud of them. Sadly some people fail to respect them" #KUWAIT pic.twitter.com/SqlvYN9pFs

Oil installations, particularly the three major refineries, have not been affected by the blackout, an industry source said.
