MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia will send the 14th humanitarian convoy to deliver more than 1,800 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine's southeastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported Thursday.
"We are planning to deliver over 1,800 tons [of humanitarian aid]. I think, over 170 vehicles will be involved," Deputy Emergencies Minister Vladimir Stepanov told journalists.
He noted that the humanitarian aid will include food, medicines and construction materials to restore damaged public facilities.
The convoy will depart on Sunday afternoon, Stepanov added.
Ukraine's eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk have been suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis as a result of the military operation launched by Kiev against local independence supporters in April 2014.
Since August 2014, Russia has sent 13 convoys with over 17,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the region.
