MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama will sign a proposal Friday encouraging private sector companies to share information on cybersecurity threats with one another, as well as with the government, to combat the evolving threats of cyberattacks.
The proposal envisages companies sharing information about cyberthreats with the Homeland Security Department, which in turn will share the information with relevant federal agencies and the private sector's Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations (ISAOs).
The proposal, announced by the US president in January, will be signed following Friday's cybersecurity forum at Stanford University, California.
The United States is also planning to create a new agency dedicated to cybersecurity in light of the growing number of hacking attacks and identity theft in the past year, US officials announced Tuesday.
A large number of US public and private institutions, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, JP Morgan and federal agencies such as the State Department and Central Command were victims of cyberattacks in 2014.
