The order comes in addition to the previous one, which stipulates the delivery of 20 SSJ-100 planes to the Mexican carrier.

Interjet has received 12 of the 20 earlier-purchased SSJ-100 planes with the last aircraft having been delivered in December of last year. The delivery of eight remaining planes is expected to be completed by July, 2015.

Superjet-100 is a short-haul passenger airliner, developed by Russia's Sukhoi Company. The plane carried out its maiden flight in May, 2008 and was made available for commercial use in 2011.

Russia's flag-carrier Aeroflot operates the largest fleet of SSJ-100s. Apart from Russian and Mexican airlines, the plane is also used by Laotian and Indonesian airlines.
