The Russian Emergencies Ministry's humanitarian aid convoy has been divided into two groups, one of which, comprised of more than 90 trucks, will bring the cargo to Donetsk and another, comprised of over 80 vehicles, to Luhansk region.
"At the moment the vehicles are undergoing customs clearance at two border crossing checkpoints – the Donetsk and the Matveyev Kurgan," the deputy chief of Russian Emergencies Ministry crisis management center, Oleg Voronov said.
Ukraine's eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk have been suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis as a result of a military operation launched by Kiev against local independence supporters in mid-April, 2014.
Since August, Russia has sent to the region a total of 13 humanitarian convoys with more than 18,000 tons of aid. The 13th convoy has returned to Russia on February 9 after bringing over 1,100 tons of aid to Donetsk and Luhansk.
