"Extreme Islamic terror in Europe has struck again, this time in Denmark," Netanyahu told Israel's Cabinet on Sunday. "Jews have been murdered again on European soil only because they were Jews, and this wave of terrorist attacks, including murderous anti-Semitic attacks, is expected to continue."
Citing security concerns for European Jews, Netanyahu noted that in light of the attacks, "we say to Jews, to our brothers and sisters: Israel is your home. We are preparing and calling for the absorption of mass immigration from Europe. I would like to tell all European Jews and all Jews wherever they are: Israel is the home of every Jew." The Prime Minister added that "Israel is waiting for you with open arms."
Sunday's comments follow remarks made by the Prime Minister last month in the wake of the Paris attacks on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a kosher market which left 17 dead. Netanyahu had then noted that his government would welcome "all Jews who want to immigrate to Israel…warmly and with open arms," and would "help you in your absorption here."
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has recently explained that Netanyahu's government has sought to double the flow of Jewish immigrants from Europe in light of the recent attacks in Europe.
