US Senate Committee Passes Bill to Introduce More Sanctions Against Iran
MOSCOW, (Sputnik) — The United States is limiting the scope of data it shares with Israel on the nuclear talks with Iran, fearing that Israel would undermine the process, the Haaretz newspaper reported Monday, citing senior Israeli officials.

Iran and six world powers have agreed to sign a long-term agreement, which would guarantee the peaceful nature of its nuclear program by July 2015.

According to Israeli officials, cited by the newspaper, Israel is trying to block the deal with Iran while Washington is doing all it can to secure an agreement. Therefore, the White House fears Israel could leak some of the sensitive data on the talks to the media in a bid to undermine the negotiations, Haaretz said.

Israeli media reported last week that the United States would stop briefing Israel on the progress in nuclear negotiations with Iran. The reports were swiftly rejected by the White House.

US officials are still updating their Israeli colleagues on the Iran issue but the information is passed on "at a lower resolution," an Israeli official who spoke on condition of anonymity told Haaretz.

Iran has long been suspected of developing weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear program, and is currently the target of UN sanctions over the issue.

The five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany have held talks with Tehran since 2006. The deadline to reach an agreement has been repeatedly postponed and is currently set for July 2015.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed fear over a possible deal with Iran, claiming it poses an existential danger for Israel's security. The Israeli leader is determined to address US Congress on the issue in early March, despite strong opposition at home.
