MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The warring sides in eastern Ukraine should refrain from any actions that might endanger the ceasefire, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Chairperson-in-Office Ivica Dacic said Monday.
“I expect all parties to demonstrate the highest level of responsibility by fully respecting and adhering to the ceasefire in all areas, including in and around Debaltseve,” Dacic said as quoted on official OSCE website.
Dacic also called on all sides to cooperate with the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine.
The military confrontation between Kiev forces and independence supporters in eastern Ukraine began in April 2014, and claimed lives of over 5,600 people so far.
On February 12, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France agreed on a new political deal aimed at peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The agreement stipulated the ceasefire between the warring sides starting midnight February 14-February 15.
Under the deal, the warring sides must withdraw heavy artillery from the line of contact within two weeks and swap all prisoners.
On Sunday, the head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan said that the truce was generally holding.
