MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Approximately 3,000 Ukrainian troops remain surrounded in the area of Debaltseve, the deputy commander of the militia in the eastern Ukrainian self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic said Wednesday.

“We believe that there are around 3,000 [troops] from various Ukrainian military units,” Eduard Basurin said during an interview on Russia’s Rossiya-24 television in regard to a question of the number of Ukrainian military personnel who are surrounded in the area of Debaltseve.
