“There are special kinds of fakes made expressly for the president by a narrow circle of people trying hard to stay in his good graces despite all their blunders and crimes… This is very dangerous for the country, the army and the people,” Semenchenko writes.
He believes that the president is being deceived across the board, including on the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed and wounded in the countries war-ravaged east, and is ready to prove his point in a direct conversation with Poroshenko.
They are lying to you about our imaginary battalions holding out on roads because they are simply not there,” Semenchenko adds.
The deputy commander of the Donbas independence supporters Eduard Basurin earlier said his forces had encircled around 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers in Debaltseve.
On Tuesday, the Ukrainian commanders reported they had restored their control over the Artemovsk-Debaltseve highway, just as the head of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, said his forces completed the encirclement of the Ukrainian units in Debaltseve.
Eduard Basurin later said he controlled most part of the Debaltseve area.
On February 12 the warring sides signed an agreement to cease fire from February 15, pull back artillery and tanks and establish a security zone. The truce is largely holding now except for areas in and around Debaltseve.
