NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Five people, including two employees of the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas were arrested on Thursday on charges of leaking classified information from the ministry.
The suspects allegedly duplicated keys, forged ID cards and fraudulently obtained temporary passes to access the ministry's offices.
Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the Indian government would take strong action against those involved in the leak.
"The leaking of information was going on for several days. Government and the Delhi Police were keeping a close watch. Such kind of things are unfortunate for the free and fair governance," Dharmendra Pradhan told reporters.
To prevent such incidents in the future, Indian officials are planning to install more CCTV cameras in government buildings.
