"We have filed and, of course, are filing many cases against various companies. For example, the latest case we have filed only today is a case against Google – a very well-known company," Artemyev said.
Earlier this week, the regulator received a request from Yandex to conduct an investigation into a possible breach of Russia's antitrust law by Google, according to Artemyev. In accordance with FAS regulations, the watchdog has one month to consider the request.
Yandex is a party to another antitrust investigation against Google, led by the European Commission. The investigation began in 2013, following a complaint from the FairSearch alliance of businesses, which includes Microsoft and Oracle. The alliance was concerned with the prime placement of "Google Mobile Services" (GMS), such as Google Maps, Gmail, Youtube and Chrome, on Android devices.
Last December, the European Commission formally asked Yandex to provide evidence for the potential antitrust case against Google.
