DONETSK (Sputnik) – The authorities of self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) are ready to hold a prisoner swap with Kiev Saturday, a source in the DPR government told RIA Novosti Friday.
"We plan to hold a prisoner swap tomorrow. We are still at the preparatory stage at the moment," the source said.
An all-for-all prisoner swap was one of the measures aimed at peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict agreed upon by the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France during a so-called Normandy format meeting on February 12 in Minsk.
The ceasefire in southeastern Ukraine that came into force on February 15 and the establishment of a secure buffer zone through the withdrawal of heavy weaponry are also among the 13 points stipulated in the Minsk agreement.
