The court in La Paz sentenced the two men to nearly six years behind bars for conspiring to assassinate President Evo Morales and launch an armed rebellion, Prosecutor General Ramiro Guerrero said in a statement, carried by La Segunda internet portal.
The Hungarian and the Croat, who also has Bolivian citizenship, were also charged with “membership of a group of mercenaries hired by the local bourgeoisie to engage in separatist activities against the regional authorities in Santa Cruz in 2009 and prepare the assassination of President Morales,” the official statement read.
