The 87th Academy Awards will celebrate the best films of 2014 on Sunday night at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, starting at 5:30 p.m. local time (1:30 a.m. GMT).
Always elegant Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting this year ceremony, while Lady Gaga, Rita Ora, Jennifer Hudson and Anna Kendrick are expected to perform and entertain the public.
My brain hurts from all the #Oscars overthinking. It's time for the fine tuning, rewording, and 3rd guessing. So much minutiae! @TheAcademy

When it comes to predicting future winners, movie critics expect Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood” and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Birdman” to be top competitors in the Best Picture Award. Michael Keaten (“Birdman”) and Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”) will fight out for the Best Actor Award, while Julianne Moore will most likely win the Best Actress Award for her outstanding performance in “Still Alice”.
“American Sniper” has gathered a lot of attention recently and some predict that the Clint Eastwood-directed film might bring a last minute intrigue in the best film nomination, while Bradley Cooper, who played US Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, will be a force to be reckoned with in the best actor category.

In the supporting actor category, nominations are Robert Duvall (“The Judge”), Ethan Hawke (“Boyhood”), Edward Norton (“Birdman”), Mark Ruffalo (“Foxcatcher”) and J.K. Simmons (“Whiplash”). It will be a tough choice to pick a winner in this category, but J.K. Simmons probably has a bit of an edge over the rest of nominees.
#Whiplash = Astounding movie! I Loved it & J.K Simmons deserves to win an #Oscar for his brilliant performance! 5/5 pic.twitter.com/GcHQnmtLJU

Supporting actress nominations went to Patricia Arquette in “Boyhood,” Laura Dern in “Wild,” Keira Knightley in “The Imitation Game,” Emma Stone in “Birdman” and Meryl Streep for “Into the Woods.” Patricial Arquette is widely perceived as the main candidate to win the golden statuette for the best supporting actress.
Boyhood star Patricia Arquette would rather be wearing overall on the red carpet: http://t.co/X9Fnb8SF1Y #AskHerMore pic.twitter.com/iLob4HgZzg
