"Infringements of regulatory requirements were found in the evaluation of cheese and cheese-like products manufactured in Poland," the source said.
"In order to protect consumers' rights, as of February 20, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import of cheese and cheese-like products manufactured in Poland," the source added.
The recent import bans follow Moscow's response to a series of Western sanctions, introducing in August 2014 a one-year embargo on food imports, including dairy products, meat, poultry, fruits and vegetables.
According to the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), Poland along with Baltic and North European nations have suffered the most from Russia's import ban.
DESA's December 2014 report found that losses from the European Union's $11-billion annual food exports to Russia could disrupt the region's entire logistics sector.
