WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Employee wages will be raised to $9 per hour following a White House call for its ‘Raise the Wage’ initiative to take effect, US Retailer TJ Maxx announced in a statement.
“This [White House] initiative will benefit current and future associates, as the Company’s full- and part-time hourly US store associates will earn at least $9.00 per hour beginning in June,” the statement, issued on Wednesday, said.
“Sometime during 2016, all hourly U.S. store associates who have been employed for six months or more will earn at least $10 per hour.”
“At TJX [TJ Maxx], we attribute our success over the last 38 years to the people we have hired who have remained focused on our mission of delivering consumers amazing values,” Meyrowitz said.
Meyrowitz also said the pay initiative is important for continuing to attract and retain the best talent for the company, and to stay competitive with other like-minded retailers.
The TJX Companies, TJ Maxx’s parent company, also includes Marshalls, HomeGoods, and Sierra Trading Post Associates, according to the statement.
