MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Poland may send a formal mission of up to 100 instructors to Ukraine to train junior officers, Polish Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said Thursday.
"Right now, our teachers and military personnel are travelling to Ukraine and giving lectures at military academies. The decision if [such activity] should take the form of a mission must be made by the government and the president," Semoniak said in an interview to the Polish radio station RMF FM.
He added that the final decision to send a mission of military instructors to Ukraine will be taken in March.
The process of training would be long-lasting and take months, Siemoniak stressed adding that Kiev and Lviv would be the best places for Ukrainian military training.
Siemoniak also noted that other NATO members may also provide military aid to the Ukrainian army, including military training.
On Tuesday, British Prime Minister David Cameron confirmed that the UK will send up to 75 military personnel to Ukraine within the next month to help train local Ukrainian forces.
