DPR Militia Deputy Commander Eduard Basurin said heavy artillery would remain in the area of the Donetsk Airport since Kiev forces are continuing to fire in the area.
“Weapons will remain in the area of the Donetsk Airport because shots are still being registered coming from Ukrainian forces,” Basurin said.
He added that 20 ceasefire breaches were registered on Thursday.
Ukraine's warring sides agreed on an urgent ceasefire deal and drawback of heavy weaponry from the contact line earlier in February, after a previous ceasefire agreement, signed in September last year, had been routinely broken.
In January, Ukraine’s Mirror Weekly newspaper uncovered that the airport, where Kiev carried out a major operation earlier in the month, should have been transferred to the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in accordance with existing peace agreements.
