KRASNOYARSK (Sputnik) — There are no political obstacles to Chinese entities holding majority shares in strategic oil and gas fields, except those on the continental shelf, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said Friday.
“If there is a request [from China], we will seriously consider it. And I see no political obstacles at the moment,” Dvorkovich said at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.
Shelf projects are a separate issue, where the Chinese are invited as minority partners, “but I see no restrictions for most other projects,” the minister added.
China, one of the world’s fastest growing economies and the largest energy consumer, and Russia, a major hydrocarbon producer and exporter, are broadly cooperating in a number of fields, most prominently within the energy sector.
