MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A massive campaign calling for the shutdown of the US Air Force base in Indian Springs, Nevada is planned to take place from February 28 to March 6, CODEPINK anti-war organization stated on its website.
According to the organization, the US Creech Air Force Base "secretly" became the country's first base remotely operating the MQ-1 Predator and Reaper drones in deadly operations in many countries of the Middle East.
The Predator unmanned aerial vehicle made its maiden flight in 1994 and is designed to carry Hellfire air-to-surface missiles. The Reaper drone is larger and more advanced compared to the Predator.
The United States has carried out more than 500 targeted killing drone strikes since 2001, killing an estimated 3,674 militants, including 473 civilians, according to the US Council on Foreign Relations.
