US Conservatives Favor Rand Paul as GOP Nominee in 2016 Presidential Race

Rand Paul, US Senator from Kentucky, has won the 2015 Conservative Political Action Conference's Straw Poll, conducted among CPAC attendees to determine their preferred candidate for the 2016 presidential race among Republican conservatives.

Rand Paul, US Senator from Kentucky, has won the 2015 Conservative Political Action Conference's Straw Poll, conducted among CPAC attendees to determine their preferred candidate for the 2016 presidential race among Republican conservatives.

Paul received 25.7 percent of the vote, while Jeb Bush, considered the likely GOP candidate, came in fifth. Three out of 20 CPAC Straw Poll winners ended up as GOP nominees in the presidential elections in the last two decades.

Over 3,000 attendees of the Conservative Political Action Conference took part in the vote.
