MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Two men were arrested in Washington on Monday for attempting to enter the grounds of the White House, CNN reported citing a Secret Service official.
The first man tried to unlawfully gain access to the US president's residence through the eastern entrance at around 07:00 local time (12:00 GMT). The man was arrested and will be transferred to police custody, according to the Secret Service official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The White House's northern lawn was closed for several minutes over the attempted breach.
Another man was arrested for jumping over a bike stand at the southwest corner of the White House at approximately 11:30 local time. The White House was locked for 30 minutes.
In fall 2014, a series of White House security breaches resulted in the resignation of Secret Service head Julia Pierson.
