MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The final report on the July 2014 crash of the Malaysia Airlines MH17 airliner in eastern Ukraine is expected to be ready by October, a Dutch Safety Board official said on Wednesday.
"We hope to publish the final report in October," Sara Vernooij told RIA Novosti, adding that the Dutch authorities are not planning to publish the interim results of the investigation.
In November 2014, the authorities of the countries taking part in the investigation, agreed to complete the final report in August.
In September 2014, the Dutch Safety Board, leading the investigation process on the tragedy, published a preliminary report stating that the plane broke up in the air probably as a result of "structural damage caused by a large number of high-energy objects that penetrated the aircraft from outside", but the source of these objects has not been traced.
On July 17, Malaysian Airlines aircraft Boeing 777 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in Ukraine's southeast Donetsk region, with all 298 people on board losing their lives, including 196 Dutch citizens.
