MOSCOW (Sputnik) – At least 50 demonstrators gathered outside the police department of Ferguson, Missouri, to protest against habitual discrimination by law enforcement, local media reported.
The protest took place on Wednesday night following a release of a report earlier that day by the US Justice Department into Ferguson police practices. The report showed that a racial bias toward the black population by the predominantly white Ferguson police force resulted in excessive use of force.
At least four protesters were arrested but there were no reports of violence during the demonstration, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch news outlet reported.
In August 2014, white police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, triggering a wave of protests across the United States and bringing to popular attention the use of excessive force by police.
