BERLIN (Sputnik) – EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini will attend the Friday meeting of the Normandy Quartet deputy foreign ministers in Berlin to discuss Ukrainian reconciliation, Germany’s foreign minister said Thursday.
The Normandy format comprises representatives from France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine.
“I’m glad that Federica Mogherini will ensure international support of the discussions at the meeting in Berlin,” Frank-Walter Steinmeier said.
Discussions will include implementation of the Minsk agreements between the Kiev government and Ukraine's eastern breakaway regions, as well as various next-step measures, according to Steinmeier.
The Normandy Quartet in February negotiated a ceasefire deal for southeastern Ukraine after the warring sides failed to implement a September 2014 arrangement.
The new ceasefire agreement has been documented as being generally effective, according to international monitors.
