"I have other people and I tell them to email because I am just always worried I might say something. I am not the most calm and reserved person you know? I am afraid I might email something that in retrospect I wish I hadn't," McCain said, as quoted by Business Insider.
The Senator stressed that he does not use email at all.
On Monday the New York Times reported, citing sources in the US State Department, that former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used a personal email address for department business while she was Secretary of State between 2009 and 2013.
According to the newspaper, her aides did not take any steps to preserve Clinton's official email correspondence on department servers, in breach of the Federal Records Act.
John McCain, a former military pilot and avowed hawk in diplomatic matters, is known for his controversial and impulsive behavior.
In January he called protesters affiliated with liberal activist group Code Pink "low-life scum" after they interrupted a Senate hearing on national security.
McCain currently is one of the most active proponents of giving Kiev US lethal weapons for its military operations against the independence supporters in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
