According to the company, most domestic flights were cancelled between and within the Scandinavian countries. However, flights between Scandinavia and the UK, the US and Thailand are not be affected.
The Norwegian pilots want to make a collective agreement with the parent company to safeguard their jobs and to standardize salary conditions for all pilots within the various Scandinavian subsidiaries.
On Thursday, Norwegian Air Shuttle made an unexpected proposal to split its subsidiary Norwegian Air Norway (NAN) into three and transfer its pilots to the new subsidiaries in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. This offer was rejected by the pilots' unions as it was considered as an attempt to divide and rule the 700 striking pilots.
As the strike enters its seventh day, over 35,000 travelers have so far been affected.
