Russia's UN envoy claims that US embassies in Moscow and Kiev provide misleading information on many aspects of the Ukraine crisis.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia's UN envoy Vitaly Churkin told his US counterpart Samantha Power on Friday that US embassies in Moscow and Kiev provide misleading information on many aspects of the Ukraine crisis.

Earlier today, Power said that Russia was sending humanitarian convoys to eastern Ukraine, but did not allow international monitors to thoroughly examine the cargo.

Churkin reminded her that the latest Russian aid convoy, like many of the previous ones, was inspected by Ukrainian customs officers.

"Ms. Power, I would suggest that you ask your embassies in Moscow and Kiev what they are doing and why they do not provide you with this minimum of information, but instead, keep delivering quite cheap disinfo on this and many other Ukraine issues," Churkin said at a Security Council meeting on Friday.

Churkin also said that "politicized attacks" on Russia would not affect Moscow's determination to send further humanitarian assistance to Donbas, which is facing a severe humanitarian crisis.

"Measures taken by Kiev to suffocate the southeast [of Ukraine] have turned into a real blockade," the diplomat stressed, adding that local residents were deprived of social benefits and pensions.

To date, Russia has sent 17 humanitarian aid convoys to the conflict-hit area, carrying over 22,000 tons of food, water, clothes, medicines, power generators and building materials, to the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
