A peculiar spectacle, courtesy of a Russian art collective known as Friends of the Order of the Duck, caught the attention of those passing by the US embassy in central Moscow on a recent night.
The projection, right onto the facade of the building on the capital’s Garden Ring road, is a music video from artist Sam Nickel, that tells the story of a dangerous meteorite heading for earth, and the inability of various nations to work together, even when the safety of our common world is in danger. The group’s comments on their YouTube post are translated below:
“Presenting our first foray into the genre of light projection. This video is of Sam Nickel’s new song, the premiere of which happened on one of Moscow’s famous facades. More specifically, right on the building of the US embassy. We did the projection without the permission of city authorities or embassy staff. It is, at the same time, a little promotion of our friends’ work.”
