The Mexican miners disappeared after finishing their working day at the mine and were allegedly abducted on their way home.
The mine, owned by the Canadian company is situated in the municipality of Zumpango de Neri, near the city of Iguala, where in September last year 43 students went missing.
The municipality is known for various criminal gangs who are involved in kidnapping, extortion and killing of victims. Currently, Guerrero is the most violent state of Mexico, with a homicide rate three times above the national average.
