The agency cited the statement of Tusk's Adviser on Political Affairs and Communications Pawel Gras.
"The President of the Council of Europe from the very beginning of his work [in the office in Brussels] stated that strengthening the Euro-Atlantic relations will be one of his main priorities," the agency quotes Gras as saying.
According to Gras, Tusk and Obama intend to confirm that the EU and the United States will coordinate their actions regarding Russia in connection with the Ukrainian crisis. Europe will not soften the sanctions against Russia if the situation in the east of Ukraine does not improve significantly, Gras said.
Russia's relations with the West worsened significantly over the armed conflict in east Ukraine. A number of Western states accused Russia of meddling in Ukraine's internal affairs and supporting independence fighters in the southeast of the country.
The United States, the European Union and the countries, which followed their lead have so far introduced several rounds of sanctions against Moscow.
On Saturday, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said the situation in eastern Ukraine has improved since a peace agreement between the warring sides was hammered out in Minsk in February by the leaders of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine.
The same day, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius noted there are signs of conflict deescalation in eastern Ukraine that need to be confirmed.
