The wings of Solar Impulse 2 are covered with by 17,200 solar collectors that power the aircraft's engines, enabling it to fly at a maximum speed of 140 kilometers (87 miles) per hour. Its wingspread is 72 meters, which is longer than that of a Boeing 747. Combined with a mass of just 2,3 tons, it provides the plane with excellent long distance flying capabilities.
