A Cambodian-flagged cargo ship, en route from the Russian port of Nakhodka in Russia's Maritime Territory to South Korea, has sent a distress signal in the Sea of Japan, sources said.
A total of 14 crew members, mostly Chinese nationals, are on board the vessel, which is now located about 280 kilometers (174 miles) off Japan's Ishikawa prefecture.
South Korean services are already conducting a rescue operation, officials said.
