MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Polina Gagarina, who is also a composer and actress, will sing "A Million Voices," which was written by an international team of songwriters from Russia, Sweden and Germany.
The choice was announced by Russia's Channel One, the official broadcaster of the Eurovision Contest in the country.
The first semifinal is scheduled for March 19. Polina will sing in the second half of the event, where she will be pitted against representatives from Serbia, Denmark, Belarus, Romania, Albania, Georgia and Hungary.
Success at Eurovision has become a matter of national pride for millions across Europe since the annual song contest was first held in 1956.
In 2008, Russia's Dima Bilan won Eurovision with the song "Believe," bringing the contest to Moscow the following year.
