"We are not panicking but there is a concern over the latest polls results that project 3 to 4 mandates" with the socialists leading over Likud," right-wing Parliamentarian from Likud Zeev Elkin told Sputnik adding, however, that "the same polls indicate that the left-wing bloc does not have a genuine opportunity to form a government as the center-right parties are likely to gain an absolute majority of votes."
Speaking earlier this week at a Tel Aviv event for party campaign workers, the leader of the Israeli left Isaac Herzog pointed that the latest Likud press conference was a "show of panic from the Likud leadership," as quoted by the Times of Israel.
Herzog pointed out the Likud should "stop crying and playing dumb," adding that on March 17, when Israel will hold the 20th elections to the Israeli parliament, the citizens of Israel will all vote for a prime minister who "serves the state and not himself."
In December, the Israeli parliament took a vote to dissolve itself, scheduling an early general election for March, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to overcome a dispute within his ruling coalition and dismissed the finance and justice ministers.
