A disappointed Indian bride walked out on her groom during their wedding ceremony, simply because he couldn’t add numbers.
In a place where arranged marriages are common, the woman was forced to wait till her wedding day to see if her prospective husband would be a good match for her.
"How much is 15 plus 6?" she said. His reply was 17.
When the groom’s family tried to talk her into coming back, she refused, claiming he deceived her and her family about his education.
"The groom's family kept us in the dark about his poor education," said Mohar Singh, the bride's father. "Even a first grader can answer this."
Local police mediated between the families to return gifts and jewelry they had exchanged before the wedding.
Most weddings in India are arranged by the families of the bride and groom, where the couples have brief meetings until the day of marriage.
