"Any attempt of 'blitzkrieg' by Kiev will result in utter failure," Eduard Basurin, deputy commander of armed militia in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), told a news briefing in Donetsk.
Basurin also said that the number of ceasefire violations by Kiev along the line of contact in eastern Ukraine has doubled in the past 24 hours.
"A total of 62 violations have been registered [in Donbas]. The shelling has been carried out by tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and 120-mm guns," he said.
“All this information is distributed by Ukrainian media in order to provoke actions in violation of the Minsk agreements,” Basurin said.
He added that the eastern Ukrainian militia had withdrawn its heavy artillery from the contact line, and nothing changed since then.
On February 12, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France agreed on a set of measures aimed at stopping the military confrontation between Kiev forces and independence supporters in eastern Ukraine.
The measures, among other points, stipulated a ceasefire that came into force in eastern Ukraine on February 15.
