A Maldives court has sentenced the country's former president Mohamed Nasheed to 13 years in jail for terrorism, news reports said.
The country's first democratically-elected leader, 47-year-old Nasheed, has urged his supporters to take to the streets to protest what Amnesty International has described as a "deeply flawed and politically motivated" sentence.
Under Maldives' rigid anti-terror law, Nasheed was convicted of ordering the arrest of a chief judge when he was president in January 2012.
